Vintage 1930’s Original GATES TIRES Vertical 6′ Embossed Metal Gas Station Sign
Original 1930’s GATES TIRES Gas Station Sign. A rare sign that was produced prior to Gates using their circular logo. This embossed metal sign is 6′ tall, x 18″ wide, x 1″ thick. The wood frame on the back has been replaced. It’s inked with “PROPERTY OF THE GATES RUBBER CO” on the back. Part of the lower edge has rusted away as shown. I see no other metal deterioration on it. Someone touched up the “S” with yellow years ago. There is also some flat black spray paint covering some surface rust on parts of the sign as well. So, it’s not a mint sign, but it sure has the look in my opinion, and will make a nice display piece. A vertical sign gives some other display options not found on more common rectangular signs. Serious buyers can contact me for more photos if needed. You are welcome to pick this up in person here in Northeast Connecticut if you like.
