Radioactive Polonium Firestone Spark Plugs Sign 1940 Original Vintage Scarce
It seems just before World War II, radioactive material was still a bit of a mystery and a gimmick added to products with the suggestion of superior performance! It didn’t take much longer thereafter to realize radioactivity was not our friend. Nevertheless, this sign is an original to the era, vintage 1940 sign. There are several pre-drilled holes at the bottom, and one at the top center, as this sign used to be on a display rack for Firestone Polonium Spark Plugs. This is a rare survivor in some regard too, in that it didn’t get scrapped during WWII. Sign measures 24″ x 18″ x. 5 as it has half inch deep sides. Weighs 3 lbs without packaging. To be clear, this sign is not radioactive! To be even clearer, unlike a lot of junk out there these days, this sign is authentic and original to the era! For conditions, please review photos closely using the magnifying tool or zoom in! Firestone 1940 radioactive spark plug in used condition, with age, use, and storage related wear. Rusted in areas, some black paint spilled on others, later appears to have been cleaned to some degree, which means if careful and done correctly, more black paint can be removed. Paint crackling and flaking in some spots, but not terribly so. Slightly bent top right corner.
